Resident Evil 4 Remake: Chapter 2 Walkthrough

This guide will help players through the various challenges faced in the second

This guide will help players through the various challenges faced in the second chapter of the Resident Evil 4 remake.

When we last left our protagonist in the Resident Evil 4 remake, Leon was tossed aside by a towering figure and injected with a mysterious substance. Now, trapped against his will, he must form uneasy alliances with suspicious characters in order to have any hope of finding the President's daughter.

Going over events from the Abandoned Factory to the Village Chief's Manor, this guide will walk players through the entirety of Chapter 2 in Resident Evil 4.

After the opening cutscene, follow the corridor out of the cell and through the tunnels, making sure to grab the knife from the dead Ganado at the base of the stairs. Head up and into the next room where Leon can stealth kill a nearby villager.

Here, Leon can see his stolen gear through a hole in the wall but is unable to reach it. Instead, take a left and enter the adjoining room where another Ganado awaits. To progress, Leon must engage in melee combat with him, parrying and performing counterattacks when possible. After he's dealt with, disarm the bear trap on the floor near the locked door.

Unable to retrieve Leon's gear, vault through the window to the left of the door and enter a hallway with a crumbling wall and a patrolling villager. Take him out and proceed into the next room, where Leon can find a yellow valve to turn that opens the door to his gear. As soon as Leon lets go, however, the door will begin to close.

In order to reach the door in time, players must sprint back to the room with the bear trap, using the vaults in the crumbling wall and the window. By disarming the bear trap earlier, Leon is able to roll under the closing door and retrieve his items. After doing so, unlock the gate to the right and start forward, where a mysterious Merchant will greet the player and unlock the door ahead.

Upon exiting the Abandoned Factory, players may trade with and complete Requests for The Merchant. Newcomers should make every effort to obtain his high-quality items, recipes, and maps.

Wrapping things up here, Leon can notice a blocked gate to the left with a hexagonal slot. With no item to unlock it, follow the tracks to the right and kill the lone Ganado on the path until reaching a ladder at the end. Head up to a platform overlooking the Valley, from which players can take out a number of Ganados from a distance.

Once players drop down, a hectic fight will break out with plenty of Grenadier Ganados lobbing pipe bombs. These bombs can threaten to destroy the weak supports of the wooden bridges, so it's better to stay on solid ground for this fight, using the nearby explosive barrels to take out multiple villagers at once.

When the fighting ends, take the rightmost path down the walkways towards the ramshackle house, heading down the alleyway to the right. Vault through the window on the side of the house and head up the ladder, where Leon will be forced to fight through another wave of enemies.

By staying on the rooftop, Leon can pick Ganados off individually as they climb the ladder. Once finished, grab the Hexagonal Emblem from the shrine atop the building and head back to the Valley entrance.

To exit the Valley, take the leftmost path up the cliffside and fight off some more villagers. Multiple Ganados will try to flank Leon here, so stay on guard. At the end of this path is another yellow valve that opens the path back to the Abandoned Factory.

Back outside the Abandoned Factory, use the Hexagonal Emblem on the gate to the left. Rotate the Emblem to mirror the embellishment in the socket and turn the crank to open the gate. Through the big double doors, run through the decrepit warehouse, killing off any Ganados in the way.

Be attentive of the bear traps on the floor towards the exit. Go up the stairs in the back of the warehouse and come into a courtyard where players may hear the distant sound of a chainsaw revving.

Should Leon not have defeated Dr. Salvador in the Village Square, he can be challenged once again here. With much fewer Ganados to contend with here, players should have a far easier time taking on the Chainsaw Man, as only two others will spawn with him this time.

For some quick and easy damage, players can kite around Resident Evil's Chainsaw Man and head up the stairs behind him, crouching down at the top to avoid the explosive tripwire placed there. If players are fast and careful enough, they should be able to lead the good doctor right into the trap without taking any damage themselves.

If Salvador gets too close, a well-timed parry is capable of fending him off, but players should try to keep their distance nonetheless, dealing with the lesser Ganados to ensure they don't grapple Leon mid-fight.

By pummeling him with Leon's strongest ammunition, the Chainsaw Man should fall before he can inflict too much damage, but players should be wary of the many bear traps that litter the arena so Leon isn't caught off guard.

After fighting – or fleeing from – the Chainsaw Man, head up the stairs, avoiding the tripwire and bear traps, and walk around the left of the building, entering the door at the back. Walk forwards down the corridor and take a left up the stairs. On the landing, players can find a typewriter and a door that requires a Crystal Marble, obtained by completing the Village Chief's Manor Puzzle.

After getting the Crystal Marble, a Ganado will attack Leon in the dining room. Deal with it and go back upstairs to use the Crystal Marble on the door. After lining up the dots in the Marble with the inlay on the door, players will enter the Master Bedroom. Open a desk drawer in the corner of the room and pick up the Insignia Key to activate a cutscene and conclude the chapter.

Resident Evil 4 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
